Interpreting.. the verbal "transfer" of information between languages. There are several forms of interpreting and it is completely separate from translation - a whole different range of skills are required in interpretation.

Consecutive interpretation:-
1)One party says a sentence in his/her language
2)The interpreter "transfers" what has been said into the other speaker's language.
And so on.

Commonly used in interviews, meetings etc.

Simultaneous interpretation:-
The interpreter is interpreting what is being said as it is being said without pause.

Commonly used in court, recounting of events, conferences, focus groups, community meetings

Liaison/Ad Hoc interpreting:-
This is where it is not essential that every piece of information is interpreted, perhaps enough of what is being said to get the "gist" of the conversation or selected parts thereof.

Commonly used during tours, exhibitions and other informal events, where the participants have an understanding of the language but require clarification on certain points etc.

Helping us to help you

Very often the services we offer require us to know a considerable amount about the event you are organizing or the volume and/or frequency of your translation project in order to quote a price.

Please be as specific as possible about your requirements, including the exact hours the interpretation will be required, the subject matter, the type of interpreting to be used etc.

For translation quotes, it would be helpful to provide an accurate word count of your text, the subject matter, deadline and, where possible, a sample of the text to be translated.
